Wesley Wong Ming Sum, born in Hong Kong, is an artist based in Taiwan. She graduated from the Graduate Institute of Applied Arts at the National Tainan University of the Arts in 2024, and from Hong Kong Baptist University with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Visual Arts in 2015. Her practice focuses on cross-media art, integrating metal, painting, and installation.
In recent years, her work has explored the use of transparent paint on mirrored surfaces to evoke the traces of rain. Using a toothpick in place of a traditional brush, she meticulously delineates droplets and subtle gradations of light, building each mark drop by drop. This deliberate process seeks to gradually and precisely reveal delicate emotional states that are often difficult to perceive. Through the atmospheric presence of rain, her works invite viewers to engage with the connection between rain and the inner self, navigating the visual interplay between stillness and transformation.
